Arrival in Neah Bay
Joel
05/Jul/2008, Neah Bay, WA

BACK in the USA, OK, we came from the USA but the difference is very noticable.
We motored for most of the last 24 hours as our crew as sick (found out later he was dipping into our liquor stores), but we're back on the continent.
This place is as far west and north as you can get on the mainland other than Alaska. There is a little community where you have to drive into Canada to get to but it is further east...

We left Hilo about 1 pm on Sunday the 17th, We've had good winds until today when we have no wind. Picture a glass ocean! We've done 819 miles, most of it straight north from Hilo. When the winds come back up they are predicted to come from the West or Northwest which should allow us to take a course to the NE directly to Seattle. Ciao

Half way HOME
Joel Thornton
26/May/2008, Hilo Hawaii

After 15 days we made it! It was tough with the two of us, we did it but it would be nice to do it with one other person, then you get 6 hours of sleep a night. Toughest part is that in the early evening that neither of us wants to sleep. We worked through it. Plan is to do a few repairs here left over from our trip to the Marquesas, finally a real boat store. We will need to send a few parts back to the States, that we'll pick up when we get to Seattle. Once the repairs are done or we've gone as far as we can we'll tour the island. Commander's our weather router says it will be a couple of weeks before we can take full advantage of the Pacific High to help us get back the the PNW, once that sets up we be coming home. Anyone want to crew?

Ciao Joel
