Day 50 - Fort Pierce - MM 952

16 December 2013 | Harbortown Marina
Calm seas and temps in 80's
We departed Vero beach late morning at 11am knowing we had a short run today to Fort Pierce of 11.53 nautical miles. We arrived in Harbortown Marina at 1:15PM. We recommend this marina for it's accomodations and friendly staff. The baths/showers were recently retiled and are kept in excellent condition.

This location offered a Publix store in walking distance along with laundry facilities and my favorite - a restaurant/bar on site with happy hour from 4-7P. Yippie! So we planned our afternoon/ evening as follows:

3:30 pm Pack up two loads laundry in shopping bags. Walk to laundry room and set up two washing machines (using remaining quarters in our coin box). Proceed to Publix with the now empty shopping bags. (Note - it may be a short walk of less than half a mile, but it was all UPHILL on the way to the store.) Pick up necessary items - ended up using the extra two bags we packed - and walked back to the marina. Passed the laundry room on way back to the boat - 4:30 pm - Stopped and moved the laundry to the dryers. (60 minute cycles) Unpack groceries on boat then head to the outdoor bar for happy hour. At 6PM return to laundry room, fold and pack clothes, and return to boat. Dinner at 7pm.

Very productive afternoon.

Next several days we have planned for anchorages.
