Wow, it is May of 2014 already. We will be retiring this summer. Have so much to do. Gotta sell the apartment, and all of the contents - hopefully this will go as planned.

Matilda is on the hard, has had her bottom sandblasted and is drying nicely. Once the bottom is ready, it will be epoxied, then new bottom antifouling (several coats) applied. Because of where we will be sailing (both fresh and salt water) we had to be really careful about which antifouling to use.

See the photo of Matilda starboard side all polished up! Nice.

As soon as we have the apartment sold, we will be moving onto the boat for the remainder of the summer. And we will be retire then. So, that should make it easier for us to have time to do all the little jobs that have to get done before we leave.

Hoping to cross Lake Ontario mid September. Early enough for good weather here, and go slow enough to avoid the nasty storms. We would like to be in the neighbourhood of Annapolis during the boat show in the fall.

Sail ya later!

Getting Ready

I can hardly wait to retire and get Matilda back into salt water. Mike and I still have plenty of chores and projects to do. But we could take her south any time. We just have to agree to "Do it!"

Preparation is a long process for us. We don't typically do anything without considerable planning.

We keep Matilda at Loyalist Cove Marina. It's a lovely spot near the town of Bath, just west of Kingston, Ontario. Work on her in the summer, because as you know it is minus friggin cold here in winter. And she is all tarped up nice and snug at the moment.

More details to come...
