Fish Stories
05 February 2013
Underway, Jim puts out his line with a big juicy lure that surely no fish could resist. Well resist they did! Oh, great excitement and yells of “Fish, fish on the line” as the line would screech and pay out at quite a lick. Then we slowed the boat and Jim strapped on “Happy Sally”and put his rod in the holder. Heave ho, wind, heave-ho wind, heave . . . .you would think he would have a heart attack with all the grunting and groaning going on! Then after a long exhausting haul we got some weed! Damn that weed! But it hasn’t all been a loss. Two very delicious Jacks worthy of the finest restaurant, and a couple of mackerels have been keepers. We released a fairly hefty barracuda that flopped and floundered on the back step until we could recover the hook! Gayle and Bill have treated us to some lobster and the best conch fritters ever too. But it’s not fish every day as I thought it would be.
