ADASTRA'S ADVENTURES
To the Marina
Judy
07/25/2012, Fajardo, Puerto Rico

6/30......Sailed back to Jost Van Dyke to check out of the BVI.....next day set sail for Puerto Rico. Silvio and Verena headed to St Johns but we had a reservation in a marina for the month of July, get some boat work done and provision. July 1, we we here and had dinner to celebrate our 34th anniversary at a place called La Ola.....tapas and sangria! Our marina is very nice but no green space for Leo, we throw his ball along the breakwall. We rented a car and saw a couple of movies, shopped for groceries and generally explored. Jose and Char came in next to us for a few days to get ready to put their boat on the hard and back to Key West until October. They then decided to rent a car and we drove to San Juan to the Bacardi Factory for a tour. YUMRUM!

Another gorgeous day of snorkeling and climbing through the boulders.......we then sailed to Savannah Bay, just a bit north, and anchored for the night......snorkeled in the bay the next morning. Very nice reefs and anchorage!

The Drowned Island
Judy
07/25/2012, Anegada, BVI

After 2 days at Leverick Bay, north end of Virgin Girda, we sailed to Anegada, named the "Drowned Island" because it is flat as opposed to the other Virgin Islands. Surrounded by reefs, the island can be tricky to approach, we saw several boats go aground, but we were fine. Anchored in about 9 feet of water. We grabbed an open air taxi and went to Cow Wreck Beach, a great place to hang out, swim, and snack. We had a romantic dinner at the Whistling Pines, on the beach in the open, then walked down the beach for a night cap, spreading our tourist dollars around!

Next day, Jose and Char joined us and we played dominoes in a bar even after they closed, on the honor system.

Anegada is always beautiful!

At Last, The BATHS!

6/21.......finally to the Baths, one of our favorite places ever. I believe we've been here every time we've chartered, the scenery and water here never lose their unique ability to awe. We grabbed a mooring and got right into the water. Loved using the new camera and didn't get out of the water until we were pickled!

Anchored in Thompson Bay for 2 nights, had dinner and drinks at the Bath and Turtle and played dominoes at a local dive until the wee hours. Loving life!

After meeting Sue and Clay and JJ at Christmas Cove, St Thomas, (thanks for dinner Sue!) we sailed to little Harbor at Peter Island, BVI to meet Silvio and Verena. Enjoyed a nice swim off the boat with the dogs and a quiet, deep anchorage with only one other boat in the vicinity. Beautiful place!

The Adventure Continues
Judy
06/18/2012, Cane Garden Bay, BVI

Wow....Finally good enough internet access to post something! We are at anchor in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI. Just as beautiful as I remember. Yesterday we took a tour of the island bars with a friend of Silvio and Varina's, finally saw the Bomba Shack, and Bomba himself. Quite a unique place and I can't wait to come back for the full moon party. We also met Rudy, the sharp dressed owner of Rudy's Bar, where I was a little wary of falling through the floor to rocks and sea below!
Let's see, my last post had us in Samana, DR. Since then, we have traveled to Puerto Rico. Puerto Real, Boqueron, and Ponce. Lost our dinghy between Boqueron and Ponce, had to rent a car and travel to San Juan to replace it and the motor.  Boqueron was a great little town with a nice anchorage. Check the gallery for lots of pics.
Onto to Dewey, Culebra, SVI. Stayed a few days in Dewey, had laundry done, waited for a part for Blues Breaker. We decided to go to Isla Culebrita, just a short sail away. It was a Sunday, and the anchorage was pristine and very, very crowded. Not to worry, though, by late afternoon the monster power boats had all returned home and left us in peace and postcard like surroundings. We climbed the mountain to the lighthouse, well worth the hot and sticky hike. Great view from the top. Bob and I snorkeled and I was attacked by sea urchins! Visited the "Jacuzzis" with Leo. Culebrita is still my favorite anchorage, but I am looking forward to searching for a better one!
From Culebrita, we sailed to Jost Van Dyke, BVI. Anchored in Great Harbor and had dinner at Foxy's. Now at Cane Garden Bay.......laundry and boat chores today, tomorrow we plan to sail to the Indians, do some snorkeling, (try out the new waterproof camera) and just relax some more!!
