Not the Beach Boys California!

One of the reasons for cruising away from the Pacific Northwest was to escape the cold, gray weather. We soon found ourselves in very familiar weather patterns. Eureka greets nearly every day, all year, with cool temperatures, clouds and fog that remain most/all of the day. Sometimes the fog burns off in late afternoon, just in time to enjoy a nice sunset.
Once again, we encountered the kindest, most helpful people. Many people saw the “Seattle” homeport on our stern and stopped to talk about their own experiences in the northwest. The marina staff went out of their way to help us find resources, gave us entertainment ideas and generally made us feel like family. After changing the oil in the engine, I asked the marina about a place to recycle the oil. Within a few minutes “Chris” from the marina drove over and picked up our used oil!
