Cedros Island and Turtle Bay
28 November 2012
We left Ensenada on Thanksgiving Day. We really loved Ensenada so we were sad to leave, but it was time. We had a good weather window. We traveled 2 days and 2 nights and on the third day, we realized we would not make it to Turtle Bay before night, so stopped at an Island called Cedros. The passage was rough, but we did it without too much trouble. The seas had big swells and that made for a very uncomfortable ride. It's hard to sleep when you are rolling all over the place.
We do 4 hour watches at night so that gives each of us a chance to sleep. When the seas are confused and rough, it's harder to get a good night sleep, but we seem to manage.
We ended up staying two nights at Cedros Island, at two different anchorages. The second anchorage has historical significance as the Spanish ships would anchor and row ashore with barrels and filled them from the natural spring at Las Palmitas. We spent a peaceful night at this historic anchorage, named "The little Palms" for the two palm trees
The captain caught a big yellow tailed tuna the first day out...then today he caught 4 more, but threw 2 back as they were really small.
