Dawn
10 October 2007 | Block Island
Sue/overcast, chilly
What a delight to wander among the shrubs at the north end of Block Island. As first light broadened into full fledged dawn, the songbirds flitted around, under, and between the foliage. Their appearances were momentary. Their songs blended into a full fledged symphony. These are immature migrants which overfly the mainland and "drop" onto Block Island to rest before continuing south. The backdrop for this event was Crescent Beach where hundreds of balancing stone sculptures have been erected. Quite a display.
