The Anchorage At Farmer's Cay
When we dropped the roti off to Kelly on Tiger Sea, we noticed that the Cat between our two boats was not pointing in the same direction as both of our boats. We dinghied over to ask if they needed our assistance, wondering if they had gone aground. It seemed that their anchor chain had become caught on the prop when the current swung the boats around. We threw them a line from our dinghy and attempted to pull them off the chain but with the current and the size of their large boat, our tweaked 9.9 didn’t stand a chance. The captain resigned himself to diving on the prop and we headed back to our boat.
Ken decided to check the anchor again and deemed it inadequately set so we got back aboard Allure and moved the boat once more to bury the anchor in the sand. Now satisfactorily set, we sat down to consume our roti dinner. I think that curried, corned mutton is an acquired taste.
While eating in the cockpit, we noticed our neighbours had managed to free their chain from the propeller but decided to reset their anchor after the disturbance. Once they were reanchored, they had their headsail unfurled and it was flapping in the considerable wind. Ken was just about to go over and offer to help them again when it seemed they managed to right the roller furling and get the sail safely stowed. Good thing because it turned out to be a very windy and bumpy night.
