Farewell Farmer's Cay

23 April 2014 | Black Point, Rockside Laundry
Sunrise at Farmer's Cay
After a yummy dinner the night before aboard Tiger Sea, we wished Farmer’s Cay a fond farewell. We upped the anchor that morning knowing that it would probably be the last time we would visit Farmer’s Cay on our trip. We had met such wonderful people and enjoyed so many good times that it made me a little sad to leave. We toyed with the idea of going out the other way but decided that the usual course would put us on the best point of sail most directly and there was nothing of interest to see on the alternative route (except perhaps the bottom if we weren’t careful/lucky).
It was a beautiful morning and in no time flat we were making our way into Black Point. We got ourselves settled and had some lunch. There were quite a few boats in the anchorage…not like the 120 boats for Superbowl, but not mostly empty as we had enjoyed in the past. Ken dropped the dinghy and I tried to see if we were close enough to Rockside Laundry to ‘borrow’ Wi-Fi…intermittent but unfortunately, mostly not. Rats! If that little boat ahead of us hadn’t been there, we could have crept a bit closer and been in range!
Later in the afternoon, a provisions boat arrived and Adderley’s Friendly Market announced that they had fresh produce. We needed to stretch our legs so off we went to town to check out the offerings. We got a few bananas, oranges, and the proprietress helped me find a few carrots without black spots already on them. Finally, we selected a large pineapple which she warned was $7.50. Bless her; even she thought it was dear!
