Sherie and I have had guests on board the last few days; Brent Reid and his son Austin flew down and joined us on Ahmeek in La Paz. We spent a couple of nights in La Paz before heading North to Isla Espiritu Santo. On the way out of La Paz we took a look at Venus, a super yacht that had been built for Steve Jobs, but finished after Jobs died and passed to his heirs. Boat cost over 100 million Euros to build.
Once up on Isla Espiritu Santo we anchored in Bahia San Gabriel for a couple of nights. San Gabriel is a big bay filled with aqua blue-green waters, and backed by a couple of lagoons filled with mangroves. There are ruins of an old oyster farming operation on the South shore.
From the shore of San Gabriel we hiked across the island to the East side to Playa la Bonanza, a beautiful long beach with white sand.
We were hot after the hike and all went for a swim in the clear waters.
After hiking back to San Gabriel and taking the dinghy back to Ahmeek, we had a late lunch and hung out in the shade, swam, and paddled around the bay.
The next day we heading South to Balandra for an afternoon swim, and then sailed a few miles further South to Playa Pichilingue where we set anchor for the evening. On the shore is a very nice open palapa restaurant where we all had a seafood dinner together.
We returned to La Paz on Sunday. Brent and Austin rented a car to drive down to Cabo for a few more days adventure by themselves before they return home to California. It was great having the company for a few days. Adios amigos!
