One, Two, Three - Go

Wow, where did the summer go! It seems all a blur. I know we were busier that one arm paperhangers in a wind storm. But, what didn't get done was an update to this blog.
I must admit that both of us did so much writing as part of our professional careers that writing the blog sometimes feels like work and it often gets put to the bottom of the list. But, we also know (hope?) there are some of you that follow our antics and so it's time to reactivate our running commentary for another season down south.
As we said in our last blog last year's season was somewhat of a bust. We seemed to continually have gremlins on the boat that caused a series of maintenance problems. So we didn't manage to get over to the Bahamas and I spent the later part of the season back at Indiantown tackling our "to-do" list while Cindy had to return to work.
But this year is looking up. Cindy is taking a leave of absence from work for 3 months which means she arrives in Florida in mid-December and we are unfettered by obligations until May 1st. We're hoping to take advantage of this free time to make our way down into the Exumas and to Georgetown. When we return she has only one more year to work before we can do this full time. Yippee.
So as I write this quick entry on a Sunday morning in our condo in Oshawa the bags are packed; the truck is loaded; and the plan is for me to pull out tomorrow morning. I'll take a couple of days to get to Florida and then spend the time waiting for Cindy by getting the boat ready to roll when she arrives.
You might be interested to know that upon our return in the spring from the south, we traded our camper and truck for a new 5th wheel trailer and heavier truck that next year will become our home for the months that we're not sailing. Our new toy is picture above.
Our plans are slowly taking shape and life is good. Join us on this year's adventure. We'll try to be better at posting regular updates.
