20 March 2014 | Marsh Harbour, Abacos
We spent 6 days in Marsh Harbour and spent some more time exploring the City. We spent one idyllic night at anchor and then the next 5 nights at Mangoes Marina. Our fridge that we had repaired a few weeks ago was giving us some trouble again, so we wanted to get in touch with the technician to have him look at it again. He was to arrive on Monday afternoon, so that gave us time to get to the bank and get the laundry done up in anticipation of leaving the next morning. Unfortunately, he didn't arrive on Monday. We waited around the entire day on Tuesday and he finally showed up at 5:00 pm. So much for our planned departure.
You know what it's like when you take your car to a mechanic because there's something wrong only to learn that it doesn't do it when the mechanic is around? Well, that's what happened with the fridge. The technician came to the boat and we restarted the fridge and it's been working ever since. Go figure.
There was a front with high winds forecast to move through starting on Wednesday afternoon, so we figured it was best to stay put. The marina had given us a great rate and there was a pool, so it was not a hard decision to make. We took the opportunity to reprovision and I also learned how to make conch salad (see lead picture). I made a couple of trips to the fish dock to pick up some conch, some of which is still in the freezer so that I can make it another day.
We left Marsh Harbour on Saturday morning with our destination Hopetown. Wayne really enjoyed it there when he was here two years ago, so I'm looking forward to this next adventure. Stay tuned.
