Waiting
10 March 2012 | Oceanside Marina, Key West
Dear Friends and Family,
Well, we are still sitting at the dock. Last Sunday we had a big storm come through with high winds and some heavy rain. We were sitting in the cockpit enjoying the temperature drop from 80 something to 69 in about 15 min. we looked out at the channel to see 6 shrimpers coming in. All in all 11 shrimpers came in from the "blow" that day. We were told they usually go to the west coast for cheaper fuel and a better shrimp market but when the weather turns nasty they come in here. Later that day I bought some shrimp from a man who had bought 60 some odd pounds of shrimp and was "pinching the heads" at one of the fishing stations out back.
We also took time this week to finish, yes I did say finish putting up headliner, we did the 2 stern berths and our V-berth. The headliner is a soft white so it brightens up the boat quite a bit. We are so pleased with ourselves.
We are waiting for the wind to lessen and/or go to the south, it's usually from the east which is the direction we want to travel. We are trying to be ready so when we get a chance we can go east and get across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas.
I hear Spring is springing, I'm glad for all. Personally, I am missing my daffs.
More from the exotic Bahamas........best from Alchemy
ps. the guy pictures below we named Cranky as he is made of crankshafts, he guards the diesel repair shop. Isn't he cute even with the machine gun?
