Made it!!!
sunny, hot
03 April 2012 | Chub Cay, The Bahamas
Whew, we made it to the Bahamas! We crossed on Sunday, starting early at 6am and heading out Government Cut with only one freighter coming up behind us. The wind was from the west and we put out the jib and put up the main and actually sailed part of the day. Delightful.
We had a little friend come by and stay until we reached the anchorage at Gun Cay which is just a little island. It was a palm warbler(see pictures), he hopped all over the boat and checked out everything and everyone. Sat on Mike's foot and perched on my leg at one point. He was enchanting and flew off when we were close to land.
Yesterday we sailed across the Bahama Bank toward Nassau but we have stopped to check in at Chub Cay Club which is a fisherman's paradise. Great docks and even a restaurant.
Tomorrow we head for Nassau but go past and on to an anchorage to then cross the next day to the Exumas. Get out your atlases, it's geography time!!
Have a joyful Easter, there is much to be thankful for. I am thankful for all of you travelers.
We have sailed over water deep blue and pale green. I'll try to capture it in the pictures.
Smiles to all,
Ivy and Mike
