Back in the USA

21 May 2012 | Titusville, FL.
Dear Folks,
We crossed back to the States.
We spent last, Mother's Day at Warderick Wells, Exuma Land and Sea Park and left on Monday to go north to Highbourne Cay for groceries(very expensive) and diesel. It was raining and very cloudy the next morning but overall it looked like a good window to go. We aimed for Nassau and sailed/motored south of it while they got hit with a doozy of a thunderstorm. We had a calm night and a good day crossing into the Gulf Stream up by Great Isaac Light(pictures). Mike was helming the second night off the coast of Fl. at about Palm Beach when we got caught in a squall. The wind blew 30+ and the waves got big but the boat did well and I hung out in my berth below and it passed in about 3 hours. In all it was 260 nautical miles from Highbourne to Vero Beach.
We came into the ICW at the Ft. Pierce inlet and motored north to Vero for a hot shower and a great burger.
We are now on our way north hoping for an opportunity to go "outside", in the ocean to go north to the Chesapeake. Tonight we are in Titusville within sight of the launch pad at NASA. Trying to see the rocket take stuff up to the Space Station.
The pictures show the last days at the Exuma Park with its wonderful water and the not good pictures of the cute black and yellow and white, Bananaquit. He also has a turned down bill. Alchemy really enjoyed the clear water and we enjoyed seeing the anchor on the bottom.
The food and service is great here at home and we indulged in a local favorite in Vero, Vincent's pizza and browsed the book store.
I'm getting anxious to get home and put out my bird feeders for the hummers, orioles and red-breasted grosbeaks.
Hope your spring is good....

Thanks for sharing your trip and pictures with all of us! I hope you catch the launch. When I lived in Florida we used to do kayak trips to Mosquito Lagoon to watch Shuttle launches. The Orioles and Hummers are waiting for you. I'm going through grape jelly at an alarming rate. Bon Voyage

Yes, every bird in the neighborhood is wiping us out of grape jelly as well. They will be glad to have you home as will your crazy neighbors. We've really enjoyed the blog this year with such beautiful pictures. Hope to see you soon. Our kids will be in for Memorial weekend. Have safe travels and love to both.
