Sailing through the mist
22 May 2012 | Soloman's Island
Linda / foggy
Limited visability this morning. The weather had looked promising but fog settled in and then rain. On course to Soloman's Island we saw numerous large fishing boats. These were really large! Some over 200 feet! Most were quite colorful, red, blue, coral, etc. Two war ships passed in the distance. Tugs pulling cargo ten times their size chugged along. Flies became bothersome, maybe because of the fishing boats.
We arrived at Calvert's Marina on Soloman's Island around 4pm. Friendly people came to help us dock, but the marina was disappointing. The pump-out facility was in a location we couldn't reach and the closest restaurant was closed! Gloria suggested we call a nearby Hilton Inn and get the shuttle to their restaurant. Claudia picked us up and suggested a nearby restaurant where she dropped us off and later picked us up. She was hilarious.
We ate at the Ruddy Duck Pub. Food was great!
Yes, we do eat out more then we should!
