Into the Mystic...
12 July 2012 | Mystic CT
Linda / Partly cloudy
Another early morning departure in slack water. The marsh was beautiful in the morning light. Seas are very calm and no wind or rain. The sun sparkled on the water... seemed like we were sailing into a sea of stars. Beautiful!
Someone reported seeng whales in the northern part of the sound. It was too far for us to find...
Another call from a 42 foot sailboat that was taking on water. The coastguard responded quickly and a helecoptor dropped a pump so that they were able to pump the water and get the boat into safety. That too was farther north.
The Mystic River was full of moored sailboats. I have never seen so many at one time! The River wound around to our marina right next to a train bridge. But it wasn't as noisy as the bridge at Mannasquan. Thank goodness. We walked into town for dinner but found it was a long walk so we caught a taxi back. We want to go back to visit the museum and check out some of the shops(me).
