cruiser.
After listening to tbe weather forecast we realised we had to speed to st johns. Therefore we had to head for perlican after a good pasta supper.
arrived perlican just as night fell. Managed to find a floating pontoon. The z shaped wall was full of large boats. No facilities available. Got up at 5 am to head to st johns. Motored round the point and saw masses of seabirds and lots of whales.
Good winds to cape st francis then had to motor. Went in to the harbour . Floating dock poorfor sailing boats.
Crew change here. J k and bonnie went to ferryland to an excavation site. Good visit.

Having sailed most of the way round NL I find it amazing how terrible the facilities are in St John's. The next dock was floating around with a broken chain when we arrived (now fixed by divers) fortunately. May be this is how the St. John's port authority defines "floating dock) There is no water or power accessible on floating docks and if this is not a problem, no where in the whole of this great city is a shower to be found for crews of sail boats. Unless of coarse you book into a hotel at 189 bucks a night. You good build your own for that.

It makes me very impressed with small towns like Twillingate, Trinity, Little Bay Islands (60 population). And there efforts to accommodate cruising sailors. Thanks to them shame on St. John's.

At present she is cruising round the island of Newfoundland. She is going clockwise, up the west coast, down the great northern peninsula, across the Notre Dame Bay and then past St John's round Cape Race onto the South Coast of NL and back to Nova Scotia's Mahoney Bay where she is based. The trip has been done so far over 2 summers, overwintering in 2013-2014 in Lewisporte.
