Day 8
26 June 2011 | Hilton Head Island, SC
Sudzy
We could have enjoyed Charleston longer but had to get down the ICW. We headed down the Wadmalaw River into true low country. They are living large in the low country as we passed some beautiful homes. But as we got further into the swamps there was little to see except our first alligator. Channels were narrow and shallow... slow going. We were rewarded with a stop in Harbour Town at Hilton Head. It is a circular marina surrounded by shops and condos and the trademark HH lighthouse - not to mention the hundreds of tourists who stop to gawk while a boat moves into its slip - DMV boaters can think "Ego Alley". Don and Judi's friends invited us to join them for a wonderful waterside lunch. Great people, CJ, John and Anita. Jack and Sudzy then went to the beach for the afternoon while the others caught up.
All Hanz on Deck was perfectly positioned in the marina to enjoy the live onshore entertainment, people watching, shops and food.
We dined and listened to music. Even Chloe. All the marinas are dog friendly.
