How we celebrated 4th of July in Kyuquot Sound Petroglyph Cove. Charley caught 2 rock fish and a lingcod for a fish fry. While cleaning the fish I stabbed Charley's thumb and had to suture it to stop the bleeding(he is just fine no big deal but you wouldn't know it). I went kayaking. A sea otter followed [...]

If you would of told us we would still be in Desolation Sound on May 22 we probably said well maybe but doubt it. It has been wonderful!!! We took in the Oyster Festival in Squirrel Cove our friends Randi and Dennis arrived in time participate in the sampling of the oysters. We will be moving north on Thursday or Friday making our way through the Broughton's, resupplying in Port McNeil then further north or around Vancouver island.

Past week weather has been quiet warm and with the gift of intermittent heavy rains to fill the water tank and water for the day. No need for a watermaker.

So far two problems with the systems of the boat. Furnace wouldn't start. Charley took the burner apart and found marble size piece of Coke. He cleaned it up and all is well and functioning normally. And a priming bulb in the diesel fuel line broke. We were at West View (Powell River) near a marine store when this occurred. Sara started the diesel and it stopped just as we were about to cast the lines. ABYC certified Diesel Mechanic Charley quickly diagnoses the problem, up to the store for supplies and we were all fixed up. WE WERE VERY HAPPY THIS HAPPENED AT THE DOCK.

We put in new refrigerator in this year. A Isotherm cold plate water cooled. The energy savings has been very substantial and we have been very pleased in how even the cooling is in the box.

Prawning and fishing have not been good here. Even for the more expert fisherman and prawners.

We have run across several groups of high school students doing school sponsored kayak trips. They were very wet these past few days but still seeming to enjoy it.
