Good Friends and Local Grub

07 October 2009 | The FUNKY and Colorful Neighbor
Becca
We think we are the party animals, but this crazy grub pub has great Thursday night parties according to Danny, the party coordinator extrordinair and marketing guru for our marina.

Our good friends Lynn and Lew on S/V Sea Wings just got back from the states! We will use any excuse to get together with them so we decided to check out the funky "Lagoons" right next door. A quiet lunch is perfect to catch up with our good friends.

It's very common to get the only dish served that day! Yep, chicken and the provisions! I have to admit that the "provisions" complimenting each and every island fare is usually unusual to us and is bread fruit, dasheen, ochra and callalou. Most 'sides' are their healthy way to supplement the protien...but ochra is not a vegggie we usually tolerate or like! Wow, it was actually el dente and they grew it right there on their lawn. Very cool and rather yummy too!

Even better was the chance to get caught up with friends at a new place for us. Very colorful! The dance contests that begin at 11p each thursday will probably continue without us!

About: Dudley has owned this Tartan sloop and has been cruising on her since 1986. Becky joined the good sloop back in 2000 when we first started cruising together and he has been 'training' me ever since! I couldn't be happier! I've been sailing all my life, but cruising is a whole different fish!
Extra: This is the most extended cruise we've braved on this wonderful, old boat of ours which is planned to be about 2 years! We left Miami in late February of 2008 and want to get below the hurricane belt by the end of July! Ok, so it's July, 2011...we're close, but not home yet!
