Altair's Cruz Nuz
cruising, vb, kroozing, working on your boat in exotic locations around the Caribbean....Dudley and Becca
02/10/2011, Stuck at PLM, still...

We sent the laundry, one last time...we hope...but the seas are 10-15', the wind won't lay down, just blasting us with 20-30 knots for days and the just keeps coming and we're shriveled!

What's going on? We know there are cold fronts coming south from the USA, but this is ridiculous! Of course we want to go and now this!

Hike to Farmer's Market with Miles...
02/10/2011, St. Georges, Downtown!

I really wanted to walk to the market today, so I invited Miles because he really likes to walk too and I finally have some long legs to keep the pace active! We wanted some fresh food to go with all the canned and packaged provisions, so this is the answer. I also wanted to say goodbye to my friend Jessie at the market!

Diane, another vendor at the market that is a sweetheart told me the news..."Jessie is not here today, tomorrow".... She's beautiful and very preggy!

This is one of my favorite places here in this special country of Grenada. I've come to love these ambitious, enterprising and caring women too!

Just Waiting for Weather now!
02/08/2011, Port Louis Marina, Still....

Ok, it's all about the weather now!

We have been pulling our hair out trying to decide on a new hatch from the states. We exhausted everything on island trying to get this going faster...but after shipping and customs fees with a new Bomar hatch from West Marine, it would cost close to $1,000. US dollars that is. That's what my honey needed to hear for his creative juices to flow. He got a perfect piece of teak, bought two generic stainless hinges and we have a hatch that works! We have to prop it open with a stick and she leaks like a sieve, but she's ours. Thanks honey. The dingy was fixed. It had 7 holes from the bottom paint that dried and cracked and that's done. She's holding perfectly...the guys varnishing Miles' yacht, Shawn and Tan Tan are using it and it's been three days, still doing fine.

The GPS, the autopilot, the windlass...all checked out and are working. Check. We've done lots of provisioning with important stuff like wine and cheese to do yet. I've repaired and restitched the bimini, dodger and connector (with revisions for better water catching), revised the jerry can covers, All the stainless is polished, the hull cleaned of algae and the ever present vertical rust stains, the faux teak touched up and lots of bon voyage reasons to gather with friends.

Altair is happy and we are just wracking our brains about how to get back to the states by July! We know how's the agreeing where we can stop and for how long...the he said she said thingy still.

Stay tuned!

Grenada's Independence Day
02/07/2011, National Stadium, St. George

The people of Grenada are so proud! Their green, red and yellow banners of every variety have been displayed for weeks now in preparation for this grand day! This is the 37th year of their independence and we were there to help them celebrate!

A few of us, Jo Ann and Gene, our neighbors on Eli Blue, Miles on Lonestar and I hiked to the stadium! Richard took Lucy, Michelle and Josee in their dingy to the Carenage, shaving off half the walk for those three. He went back to join Dudley and they both had a day off staying nice and dry at the marina with some quiet time.

We were treated to a stunning parade and just wanted to share their colors completely and gloriously displayed on these two gracious beautiful young ladies!

Hiking to Mary's Again...
02/06/2011, Grand Anse Valley, across the hill from the Dove Sanctuary!

The friends I've met have made here on this awesome island have burrowed a huge home in my heart!

This is my friend Mary and I'm so happy to have this opportunity to see Josh her son and her new garden! Just wanted to get a hug/give a hug to let her know how special she is to me!

We're leaving Grenada for real this time and she looked at me with those big brown eyes and said "take me with you"!

Love you Mary! I promise to keep in touch!

Grenada's Beauty!!!
02/06/2011, Grand Anse Valley

I hike everyday! Since we've been back to Grenada, I've been hell bent on loosing the 8-l0 punds I packed on while at home in Miami with friends cooking for us, having the oven turned on too much, eating out instead of the healthy menus I usually prepare, etc.

Just had to share as often as I can...enjoy!
