05/24/2011, Moondancer, Harbor at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas!
Another great day on this journey of a lifetime! REALLY!
Nell and Phil would not allow us to bring a thing! Dinner was a pork loin, corn on the cob and asparagus, all cooked to perfection on the 'barbie'.
Another thing that is not for real are the goodbyes! It's just until we meet again! Moondancer will be in Europe next year...maybe we'll just have to join them on their journey when Altair gets home!
Thanks Nellie and Phil! We are so fortunate to have such grand friends from all walks of life and we couldn't ask for more! Well, we could, but what good would that do! Like stay out here for a couple more years and continue to explore this great Caribbean with old and new firends!
Big Love Nellie and Phil...Thanks for the memories...safe travels to Bonnaire to you both and to you Phil with your illustrious racing schedule coming up!

05/24/2011, Windham Resort!
Well Nellie and I agreed to bring a towel, wear a suit and find a beach! She has the right idea! We hit a resort...dressed decently, plop down on a lounge chair in the cabana, get a couple of pina coladas and chill! She says she does this everywhere...Phil works on the boat and she finds a resort! Hmmmm...I'm a hyper, driven, ants in my pants kinda woman...now I'm rethinking this whole cruiser's personality thing!
It was short, sweet with a cool swim to top it off! We took the bus to Red Hook, got some pizza, showed her the gourmet "Marina Market", and agreed once again to join them aboard Moondancer for dinner later this evening!
Gotta love this lifestyle if the drinking doesn't kill us first!
Love you both...Dudley and Bec

05/24/2011, Skyride hill...hiking solo!
Well I was desperate to go hiking and I wanted to do the mountain with the ferris wheel at the top of Paradise Point and the Sky Ride View! I invited Nellie, but her bum knee will not allow it so I'm going solo! "We'll catch up later!", we both agreed.
It was very hard...switchbacking the entire way up the mountain...my muscles were screaming, but I swear I was so close to the top when I decided to bail out! I turned l80 degrees and there was Tara! She was my angel and I asked if she was going to the top and she said yes. We did it together and yet another new acquaintance bloomed.
I could see the ferris wheel from the boat with binoculars but now I did it! Hip Hip! I'm glad I don't have vertigo...but I do have a fear of avalanches! I took tons of pix of the rocks (not boulders) just a pile at every turn. I kept to the outside of the road, but it's pretty unnerving, for real!
05/23/2011, Compass Point, Benner Bay, St. Thomas...
Roxy and Jerry both worked today...but insisted we join them for a BBQ at their place. We will take a Safari ($2 open caravan with a roof, which is very entertaining in and of itself) and Roxy will pick us up at the top of the hill so we won't have to hike more today! Post Office, the hill to Cost U Less, Home Depot so far already!
Jerry had some wings on the BBQ when we arrived...excellent we might add...Kilbasa was the plan for dinner on the grill...I made some potatoe salad...and then this!
Couldn't believe it! Dudley's favorite dessert! Somebody's pudding in a plastic tub with a pull top! Jerry and Dudley were like little boys inhaling that awful crap! Clearly they were having a ball!
I got to see Roxy's new canvas shop...their place on the water is sinking but a veritable jungle which I love...and good friends eating, drinking and the laughter! We had an opportunity for one more night to celebrate a friendship for a lifetime!
Big Hugs, Dudley and Bec
05/23/2011, Yacht Haven to Crown Bay!
Seriously, this is really a test to beat all! My honey put the new prop on the Yamaha outboard and we tested it today!
We found out where to do laundry...Crown Bay! We plum forgot how far it is...by dink!
We got up on a plane, which we haven't done in a couple of months! We are eternal optimists and porpoised and pounded our way out of St. Thomas Harbor, past Hassle Island , Water Island, through Haulover Cut by the sea plane channel....then past the port and voila...Crown Bay! We arrived with our new prop working fine and all is exciting in the dink again! It's only three miles (guessing)...still a long way in a teeny dink!
These three big boys were our neighbors the entire time we were here...or ones like it...but those three "monsta' ships felt like they were the length of the harbor! Can we say intimidating?
Oh, more rain too! Enough already!

We got an email from Moondancer, Nellie and Phil, monster cruisers having bummped into them in the Windwards, then they went back to Miami, Bonaire, Cartenga, Miami, back here to USVI a couple of days earlier than they said! This has all been while we were heading to Grenada, stayed in Grenada and now as we head back north...3.5 years later. We didn't know if we'd still be here...but they knew better! We move slowly, the complete opposite of Moondancer!
What a delightful surprise! Good friends from Miami that just started a round the world adventure we are enjoying vicariously! They also have a 56' Tayana!
We hope to spend a wee bit of time before they take off again for Bonaire, again! -- Dudley and Bec S/V Altair
