Easting

21 November 2012 | Bay Islands, Utila
Caught a horse-eyed or yellow fin jack on our way to Utila. On arrival we gave jack with the huge eyes to a local, he was very pleased, we did not like the look of it. Checking in and out of Honduras is very easy and costs very little compared to other Central American countries.
Utila has good diving and is sadly famous for its organized crime. Under no circumstances should you leave your boat unattended. No wonder, we were the only boat anchored in the bay , only saw the harbor master for immigration and recovered from our overnight sail. The next morning we set off to Roatan. Chaotic waves from the side, wind, hard on the nose. Well, we are going East, straight into the main wind direction of the trade winds, what do you expect!
We anchored in French men bay on Roatan, enjoyed the superb snorkeling and calm sheltered sea. Lovely to be swinging from the anchor again, so much more liberating than being tied to a dock in a Marina. Jumping from the back of the boat into clear water, feeling the breeze, watching the sunset, that´s what cruising live is about.
A Hummingbird flew directly at me, stopped over and hovered in the cockpit, lovely vibrant green and darkblue colours. Macaws and other birds are giving concerts early in the morning..just heavenly. One of the parrots on Fantasy Islands is quiet talkative, you feed him with grapes and he will say “I like it, I like it”.
