Wow. So much has happened since my last post (and that is still waiting to be sent). Maybe I'll have to fill in the details another time, but suffice to say we are back on the boat. The boat is fine. We are fine. Today we had a great ride from Havana to Trinidad in a 54 Plymouth. The big trunk and the big back seat made it a great choice. The A/C did not work very well, but the day was cloudy with some rain so it was comfortable. OUr driver, Maxi, was great. He is a vet tech working on his veterinarian degree, but makes more driving taxi. (like he made as much on this one trip as he could make in 10 mos. working at the clinic.) He planned the trip so that we would not just be riding for 6 hrs. Our first stop was at a crocodile farm and Indian village, except it was raining so no one wanted to go out on an uncovered boat so we just walked around and saw what we could see from land. Then there was the 'fish cave' an inland pool connected tot he ocean by a labyrinthine cave that divers were exploring. Then the Bay of Pigs and a museum dedicated to that "imperialist invasion." We didn't stop in Cienfuegos as we are going there to clear out later. In Trinidad we bought some fresh fruit at a couple roadside stands. And then we were back at the boat. The derelict boat next to us is listing as much as before, but no worse and it even looks like they may be trying to re-float it. Our boat and all the lines are great. Tomorrow we need to go into Trinidad briefly to get money to clear out and pay marina bills and hopefully find some onions and peppers. And then we are off to the Jardine de la Riena.
