Yesterday morning we had a leisurely breakfast and then took dinghy in to see Chichame. Last time we were here, there were only a couple buildings selling molas and minor groceries to the cruisers. Today it has LOTS of buildings and several tent communities as well. The entire island is developed for tourism! The water was still clear and the flotsam was still washed up on the shore, but in places Kuna men were raking the beaches and generally picking up. We sailed with just gennie down to Dog Island to snorkel the wreck there, but the area was so crowded with tour boats that we couldn't find a reasonable place to anchor. So we kept going down to the Naguargandup Group. The first spot we looked was crowded with both tour boats and cruising boats, but our second choice - a mile or so further - was still quite open with only a couple cruising boats anchored and quite spread out. We anchored just off the tip of one island and then dinghied ashore to walk about. This island was was still deserted. From the dinghy we could not see any good oral to snorkel, but there look to be some promising conch grounds. We will try that today. Dinner was Aunt Mae's fried clams (Thanks Dave for sending the recipe I forgot to bring!), french fries, onion rings and coleslaw - what a grease load! But good. Beautiful breezes all night. Life is good.
