Day 25. No Mule Today.

10 April 2012 | Providencia, Columbia, SA

Monday, April 9 After breakfast and the net, I went over to Salida to see how they were doing and if they still wanted to tour the island today. Craig was much better and game to go, so I said we would pick them up @1130 and go in. When we got to the rental place, he had no Mules. The one he promised us was flat and would not be fixed until tomorrow. He could give us a golf cart, but then one couple faced backwards and was not very protected from sun and he was only willing to take $10,000 off the price. We decided to wait for tomorrow and go out for lunch instead. We wandered around town a bit, but ended up back at Bamboo. The place looked closed up so we asked the owner if he was serving lunch today. “If you want lunch, we are serving lunch,” he said and opened the swinging panel over the bar. As before it was a full meal and delicious. Deb had the curry shrimp (again) and I had filet of kingfish with garlic sauce as Deb said she was too hungry to share this time. We dropped Craig & Liz back at Salida and returned to our boat. Deb was too tired to go hookahing, but I swam near the boat and then painted a watercolor postcard. It is very different painting something so small. You have to decide what to include and what to leave out as well as adapt your technique and brush choice to the tiny size. An interesting experiment. The result had some really nice features and some things I would do different next time. We decided not to go in for happy hour and instead made guacamole and margaritas on the boat, followed by smoked pork chops with grilled pineapple and sauted cabbage. We listened to music and read before bed. I learned that Ian Flemming's “Octopussy” was only a short story, had originally appeared in Playboy, and has almost nothing in common with the movie except the title! Very interesting.

Always & All Ways's Photos - Main
In the Spring of 2016, we sailed from Bocas del Toro, Panama, to Cuba and back with stops at the Albuquerque Cays, Providencia, and the Cayman Islands. We cruised the South coast of Cuba some and then left the boat for some inland excursions.
