Day 29, Delays

13 April 2012 | Providencia, Columbia, SA
Mark
Friday, April 13. On the morning net, I heard George announce that they were not planning on leaving until Wednesday due to concerns for weather. Craig & Liz are still in San Andres and now will not be back until Sunday morning at the earliest, so it looks like we will be here a bit longer. My internet on the SIM card expired today and despite visiting every tienda in Isabel that advertised “Recarga” and spending $10,000 on more time, I still cannot get it to work. Bamboo has stick modems that they let you use for free and George has offered to let us use his, but it is frustrating to have the modem and not be able to get it to work. While I was trying to recharge my modem, Deb picked up what fresh fruit & veggies she could. After lunch we went out hookahing again. First we went to a little patch reef just off a sandy beach that is around the corner from the anchorage. Interesting coral formations, but very covered with algae growth. Good fish except we saw FOUR lion fish. It was fun, but not great. After that we decided to stop at the little patch reef that is essentially in the anchorage. Friends had said the coral was nothing great, but there were lots of fish. Were they right! We actually saw 4 different porcupine fish, one who nearly let me touch him without puffing. Also a 5' nurse shark, queen angels as well as grays, cow fish, trunk fish, and all the usual suspects. Tonight was another pot-luck at Bamboo. It was a great spread and to top it off, there was a calypso band. It was composed of students and they did an incredibly good job. One of the girls in the band is coming to Bocas in December and we have offered for her to stay with us. It will be cool if it works out. As we were sitting around talking, Deb discovered that there were actually THREE Boudreaus there. How likely is that? We were back on the boat by 9:00 and ready for bed. (cruisers are NOT night owls!)

Always & All Ways's Photos - Main
In the Spring of 2016, we sailed from Bocas del Toro, Panama, to Cuba and back with stops at the Albuquerque Cays, Providencia, and the Cayman Islands. We cruised the South coast of Cuba some and then left the boat for some inland excursions.
