On March 23rd we took off for South Padre Island. We went to Texas at Christmas to start taking kite boarding lessons. It wasn't really warmer there--air temperature-wise--but the water was SO much warmer. Trying to learn to kiteboard in San Francisco Bay takes the endurance of an Inuit. It became obvious that we weren't gonna learn THIS sport in 10 days, so we rented a little two room place for April and May in South Padre so we could spend many days in the water. We decided to take a bit of time and visit friends on our way down rather than just busting off the miles. The first leg of our trip was to visit our friends Gary and Barbara Klein in Phoenix.

We seem to have adopted our daughter's cat. Obviously she is not particularly excited to be stuffed in a car for 10 days, but she will adapt--I hope.
