Day Three: 6/12/14

By now we have had a few great days out on the water. Ananda II is holding up well with only a few minor leaks on some window seals. Nothing a little duct tape can't fix! Besides that the ship is staying organized and all together.

Our second day out was a slow one. We sailed south of the Big Island and got caught in it's dead zone where the island blocks the wind. After running our engine for a few hours we got out of the lull and back into exciting waters just at sunset saw beginning. Where we lost time in the day, we made up for it at night. Under another bright full moon we shot through the water like a never ending sleigh ride, charging up the wave faces and cascading back down them on the other side. I've never seen waves this size before. Feelings of fright and awe overcome me at the same time. I am out of my comfort zone as I realize that humans weren't designed to be out on the ocean. That aside we are out here and we are conquering.

During the day much of the same continued. Still windy, stormy seas all around as we made up a lot of time. Now we are just cruising and holding down the fort. I'm not feeling sea sick anymore which is great! Thanks for following us. We love getting your emails and texts.
