Chat and Chill this afternoon
04 February 2011 | George Town, Exumas
We met up with some old friends in pristine Abrahams Bay at Mayaguana. Author Chris Jackson and his wife Ann were waiting for favorable winds aboard their sloop "Mr Mac". They know a thing or two about the ocean. She has a doctorate in marine biology and Chris grew up aboard the family's commercial fishing boat. He is a true waterman and a good sport (he pointed out the big one for me to spear). Great company. They are heading south and don't need the wind that was to take us north.
After a sparkling 36 hour sail into the northwest (to the right of the sun in the picture) we arrived at George Town. Along the way we bagged an eight pound Mahi Mahi which was butchered (filleting a fish is an art not a science) and then stuffed into our smiling faces and the freezer. I am sailing with the most beautiful virtuoso cook on the planet.
Here in George Town we have some great companions from all over the world to visit with and catch up on.
We'll keep you posted.
