Stress and Calm

So much has happened in the last 2 months. The last post was a remote post with my satellite phone. Today I am posting from the cabin of our M/V Pond Pirate. Puddle Pirate is currently in San Diego and its crew; well we are all over the place.
Let me start from where I left off from my last post. Puddle Pirate was heading for Hawaii but we ran into some weather issues then on top of that some family problems back home. We decided to skip Hawaii and take the clipper rout to Washington. Then all hell broke loose with family issues. I don’t want to go into them but I will tell you it was major, enough to change our coarse and head for San Diego. After sailing for 22 days, changing course 2 times we pulled into San Diego and secured a slip at the Navy Base Coronado.
Although we did not cross any oceans, the time we spent out at sea gave us a good taste of what to expect on a long crossing. The next day we were driving a rent a car headed for Arizona then back up to Washington.
We arrived in Washington just in time for Memorial weekend. I headed for Cornet Bay to work for Vessel Assist while Lew and the girls visited with family. Lew comes up to Cornet Bay on weekends and stays at our trailer in Port Susan most of the week. I have been busy working and Lew has been busy with family issues. I so miss the calm of cruising the waters of Mexico. Life has been hectic lately but at least we have our family to help us though the struggles. I love working for Vessel Assist, it helps me with my sanity, and it keeps my mind off the hardships life is tossing at us right now. Lew has been crewing for me on weekends and this I know helps his sanity as well. Being out on the water has a calming effect on us both. I guess this is why we became cruisers. Life is too short not to stop and enjoy the waters.
