Bora Bora to Rarotonga day 1
26 July 2016 | South Pacific Ocean
Annecam admin Pip & Tom
¤159 nautical miles complete with 378 to go ¤We said our final see ya later at the Bora Bora Yacht Club, dropped our mooring and set our course for Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.¤We had a nice fast start in very strong trade winds with our sog (speed over ground) hitting the high tens more often than not, we sailed the first 75 miles in just over 8 hours, that's not to shabby for a production built cruiser over ten years old.¤With the swell running at two and a half metres and the sloppy wind waves at one to one and a half metres we decided to ease the sheets and slow down to take the pressure off the rig and make the ride a bit more comfortable. The wind has eased and we are now doing sevens and eights with ten to twelve knots of breeze.¤We had planned to sail directly to Niue but we all know that a sailors plans are drawn in the sand below the high tide mark and quite often change by the day. We have completed the must do forward notification document and we await the reply. The forward notification is a must do for several countries we plan to stop at including Australia.¤Annecam is in her happy place out on the big blue and as far as oceans go they don't come any bluer than the Pacific Ocean.¤Life is always an adventure on board Annecam
