Ship transit
15 August 2016 | Neiafu, Vava'u Group, The Kingdom of Tonga.
Annecam admin pip & Tom
are now officially cleared in through Customs, Immigration and Health here in the Kingdom of Tonga, we can now step onto land, you know the stuff that does not move, we can't really complain about the beautiful calm anchorage we happen to be in but it's always good to be able to go for a stroll and get rid of the sea legs. ¤The officials told us that we did the correct thing by staying as a ship in transit and clearing in on the first working day of the week. They told us that if we had tried to clear on Saturday the day that we arrived we would have incurred overtime fees.¤We are now free to explore, to go on tours like whale watching, we can now go to as many of the marked anchorages as we can safely get to and if we want to we can sail to the other groups of Islands here in Tonga.¤We had a look at the local market here in Neiafu and we both loved the hand crafted jewellery, the tappa cloth and the carvings in both wood and whale bone. Annie did a fantastic job to not purchase tons of the lovely items, she did manage to find a really cool fridge magnet of a turtle.¤Life could not be better on Annecam.
