Navigating through the reefs on the West coast of Fiji
22 September 2016 | Sawene Bay, Viti Levu, Fiji
Cam "H"
I mentioned in the last blog that we sailed away from Savu Savu to Nadi Bay just a few days ago, stopping the first night in Nadi Bay and the second night at Nananu-I-Cake Island.
The next morning, just as we were getting under way we caught up with Kiwi Beanz, a catamaran with a young family on board, we have been seeing quite a lot of them over the past month or so and on their suggestion we spent the night anchored alongside each other in the Vatia Wharf Slot Anchorage, a very sheltered spot right on the North side of Viti Levu. We were the only two boats anchored in there for the night.
Annie managed to hook up to and land a nice trevally, I released it to fight again another day, Annie kept reminding me that the score is one nil. I tried but only managed to have the line shredded by something with very sharp teeth, oh well tomorrow is another day.
The crew on Kiwi Beanz and us have agreed to get under way at 0800 local time, as that should give us enough sun light to be able to see the reefs and the isolated coral heads we have to navigate through as we travel along the West coast of Viti Levu.
Kiwi Beanz kept going to Denaru Island and we stopped in Sawene Bay just South of Lautoka. We anchored alongside Oddity with Debbie and John aboard, its always good to catch up with old friends.
The photo is most of the crew off Kiwi Beanz, Lowen, Theo, Reuben and Sarah.
Life is pretty awesome on Annecam with the safe arrival of a new granddaughter Vanessa.
