Cam "H"
After our catch up with some of the participants of the Go West Down Under Rally a couple of nights ago, we arranged a trip by bus and train up into the Blue Mountains.
We stumbled out of bed to meet with Eve off her beautiful ketch Auntie and Chris and Chris of their lovely sloop Scintilla on the dock in the Spit Marina where we caught a bus ride to Central Station. The train ride up to Katoomba was nice and smooth and was a great ride even though the air conditioning was a little on the cold side of nice. The first item on our agenda was lunch and after a recommendation from a fellow traveller we found the Carrington Hotel, this stately Hotel built in 1883 offers elegant rooms and suites, plus dining, a bar and high tea, we just had lunch in the gardens.
It was then another short bus ride to the Blue View at Echo Point, just a short walk we were at the Three Sisters. These would have to be one of the most photographed pillars of rock in New South Wales. Only Eve and myself chose to walk down the very steep steps to the bridge to the first sister, the others opted out and watched us from above.
We took the train and bus back, stopping near Mosman for a lovely steak dinner cooked on the grill. All up it was a fantastic day, good company and great scenery.
Life begins when you step outside of your comfort zone.
