G’day from Phil
12 February 2017 | Rose Bay, Sydney Harbour, NSW
Cam "H"
It always gets our attention when we are below in the cabin and we can hear another boat lurking very close, on closer inspection we noticed another yacht circling us as we came up from below, into our cockpit, it didn’t take long to realize that they wanted to speak to us. The conversation went something like “G’day Annecam, I’ve been following your blog right from when you first started and I saw that you were here”. The “G’day Annecam” came from Phil who just happened to be on his friend Edd’s yacht sorting out some instruments they had just fitted. After a very short chat with them Phil said that he would send us a message via our blog so we could exchange email address so he could send us some much-needed information that we were after. Then there is the Sydney couple Mandy and Peter who I mentioned a few blogs ago, we are friends on facebook and they have been leaving the odd comment on here, we finally met them as they were about to jump on board the cruise ship, the Ovation of the Seas and take a 12-day cruise. It’s always humbling to have these out of the blue conversations with people we have never met in person before. We are sure that we will get to see these people more often after this initial contact.
In the meantime, we are still anchored here in Rose Bay, as this would be the cleanest water in the whole of Sydney Harbour and it has a sandy bottom giving us exceptional holding with our Mantus Anchor and the sand is nice and clean compared to the sticky muddy bottoms we have anchored in, in the rest of the harbour. The water temperature is a nice 28c and with the warm weather we have had over the last few days, it’s always nice to jump into nice clean water.
We met one of our neighbours Jean Claud a French sailor from New Caledonia who goes by the name of Jessie, his eyes lit up when we told him that we had just sailed from Noumea to Bundaberg late last year.
The photo is a google earth capture with all of the anchorages we have stayed in
