After a night moored in front of the Taronga Zoo listening to a very loud barking seal or sea lion, the odd elephant trumpeting and monkeys or chimpanzees calling, we cast off and motored up past Manly through the Spit Bridge as it opened at 1015 and we are now anchored almost in 20 metres of water, almost right in front of the North Bridge Baths were our buddy boat Graf Spee is moored at the North Bridge Marina. We had Deanne and Paul off Graf Spee over for sun downers, it's always good to catch up with friends.
This is a very sheltered location except for last night for a few hours and thunderstorm was passing to the East of us, it was producing a few wind bullets that were blowing straight into where we were. They only lasted a short while and it calmed down to give us a very quiet night.
Today's boat job is to remover the gear box selector cable to have it either repaired or replaced, as usual removing the cable is not such a big job but moving all the items we have in storage to be able to get at it is the big job. You would have loved watching me run from the helm down the companion way to reach into the engine room to manually select either forward or reverse and run back up to the helm to make sure we were going in the right direction.
The photo is our recent track from Rose Bay, under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Iron Cove, then back to Athol Bay to pick up a mooring for the night and then around through the Spit Bridge to Sailors Bay near the North Bridge Marina.
Some of the great pleasures in life is doing what others say can't be done.
