Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
27 March 2017 | Morning Bay, Pittwater, NSW
Annie and Cam "H"
We did as we planned and sailed away from the beautiful Sydney Harbour and for the last couple of days we have been exploring some of the magnificent waterways inside the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. This piece of water we can totally recommend to all our cruising friends, it is almost totally sheltered from all wind directions and there is so much to see and do while here. We took our dinghy ashore in two locations, the first place, Yeomans Bay had a small waterfall and we found a rock that had been marked by the early European sailors as it would have been a location where they could obtain fresh water. The second place, Refuge Cove had a large waterfall cascading onto the rocks and flowing into the bay, this was the location that the Z Special Unit Commando’s sailed from on the MV Krait to successfully attack enemy shipping in Singapore and other locations in the Second World War.
Today we motor sailed into Pittwater where we swapped an empty LP Gas cylinder for a full on and the swap included $25 for the deal, we also found a supermarket to purchase some provisions. The only drama was after contacting a friend and picking up a mooring for the short time that we would be ashore, on our return we found a note in our cockpit asking us to leave asap, we tried to call the owner of the mooring and all we could do was leave a message apologising.
We plan to sail from Pittwater to Newcastle tomorrow and on to Port Stephens the next day as we have a small weather window of opportunity and we will try to make the best of it before it turns ugly again.
The photo is our track from Sydney to where we are now, including the waypoints of where we stopped.
