Second Honeymoon
24 May 2017 | Tin Can Bay, Queenslend, Australia
Cam "H"
We are finding it hard to come to grips with how time flies, as this is our second time in Tin Can Bay. It only seems like yesterday that we were here on our honeymoon, it was 2009 and this would be the last coastal town we would stay in before we headed back to our home town of Horsham, down in Victoria. We tied the knot that same year just north of Cairns on Clifton Beach under the swaying palms and believe it or not it was the 9th of the 9th 2009 and in a photo, we have, it clearly shows on my wrist watch that it was 9 minutes past 9 as we exchanged our vows.
We took a stroll around the town and not much has changed at all, it seems surreal as we recognised most of the places we frequented eight years ago. The same bakery where we had breakfast, the same ATM at the same bank to withdraw the cash required to purchase breakfast, we even purchased a few provisions from the same IGA supermarket and we were greeted by friendly hello’s wherever we went. We loved this place then and we still love it now.
The big difference from eight years ago to now, is we had a trailer boat, a Barcrusher 6.4c and we were staying on land in the holiday parks as we travelled from one location to another. The last time here we had to launch and retrieve our boat, this time we sailed in and anchored right in Tin Can Bay itself.
The photo is us on our wedding day standing on Clifton Beach with Double Island in the background.
In life don’t count the days, make the day’s count.
