We have had a couple of very restful days anchored at GKI (Great Keppel Island). Our first anchorage was in Svendsen Bay until the swell started wrapping around the point and making life a bit uncomfortable, so today we moved to the west side of the Island and are now tucked in out of the swell.
We are anchored in front of the old resort, almost in the same place we came to on our honeymoon with our dear friends Paula and her now late husband John a few short years ago.
We plan to weigh anchor and sail further north tomorrow; our destination will be one of the anchorages inside the Shoalwater Bay Military practice area, this area is closed for military practice at designated times of the year, the information can be found in the notices to mariners, where and when they will be closed.
The photo is our last sunset here in GKI until we return before the cyclone season.
