We had a great time just killing time and recovering in English Harbour, just catching up with lots of boat jobs and also catching up with old friends. Simon and Helen on Interlude 1 who we met last year in Almerimar Spain and again in Gibraltar, they sailed into the harbour and shared an anchorage with us. They left for Jolly Harbour several hours before us and it was great to have a familiar face or I should say faces to help catch our lines as we are now in the Jolly Harbour Marina, our first marina since leaving Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
The noise level went through the roof once again in our cockpit as Sarah was trying to tell me that a Humpback Whale just missed our port side rear quarter and took a huge breath of air as only a large whale can do right on our stern, it then proceeded to follow us for quite a distance. I was left trying to decide whether the incident with the flying fish hitting Sarah on the back of the head out on the Atlantic Ocean or this very close encounter with the Humpback they both produced a lot of squeals of joy along with a few expletives that we will not replicate on here.
I did mention in the last blog entry that Sarah went up the mast on Annecam trying to replace a halyard that fell off on our way across the Atlantic, she did a great job going up two days in a row. She had several bruises to show for her efforts and she keeps reminding me that going up the mast was not in the position description. The photo is proof of Sarah doing her best to look like a Koala up a tree.
We will be Island hopping from now on to get up to the British Virgin Islands before the end of this month to pick up Annie and if you care to take the time to look at the YBTracker on the bottom of this page it will show where we are right now as I only turn it on when we are on the move. It will show our track goes right through the Island of Antigua as it is a 12 hour point to point satellite tracker.
Just one more point before I finish this post is Sarah is trying to find a yacht that is returning to Europe this season that is in need of extra crew and I can do nothing but give this lovely young lady all the praise for her shear grit and tenacity to safely get the job done.
