This blog is a follow on from the Full Moon Party, It seemed to us that most of the charter yachts in the area were intent on joining the party on the beach. As the day progressed there were more and more yachts trying to obtain the few moorings that had already been taken up by the smart ones who arrived early, so they had no choice but to use their anchors. Most had enough sense to allow enough swing room between themselves and the other yachts nearby and most seemed to anchor by dropping their anchor and backing down with enough rode to make sure that they would stay put. We did however witness the odd skipper who would drop the anchor ahead of another yacht and proceed to run the chain underneath that same yacht and either sit right behind or alongside them, there were some very stern words exchanged between the skippers on several occasions about the error of their ways and they would then move on.
We always allow plenty of room and at least a scope of 5 to 1 of full chain rode, with our Mantus anchor we sleep well at night and the only time that I will sit up in the cockpit on anchor watch is to make sure that no other yacht is dragging back into us.
Life is always entertaining on Annecam.
