Bequeia
10 July 2015 | Admiralty Bay, Bequeia Island, Grenadines
Cam "H"
Yesterday we sailed 54 nautical miles from St Lucia past St Vincent to the Island of Bequeia in the Grenadines. It was an interesting passage to say the least, we had a current flowing against us at up to 2.5 knots from St Lucia to the midway point along the west coast of St Vincent then we had the assistance of the current flowing the same way that we were heading. We still managed a top speed with the current against us of over 10 knots as we approached St Vincent, the wind accelerated to about 25 knots making for a very bumpy ride.
Today we picked up Gary from our buddy boat Neptune II and went into Customs and Immigration to clear into St Vincent and the Grenadines, the officials were very friendly and helpful.
We did a little exploring and found several super markets and fresh produce stores, we did not head back to Annecam empty handed, fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce, cucumber and coconut to drink was the order of the day.
We have shifted a little closer to the beach along with a group of yachts that we have spent some time with over the last month or so. Neptune II, Bahama Mamma, Three Little Birds and True Colors just to name a few of them.
As we do not have wifi on board Annecam there is a good chance that you are reading this because we have managed to go ashore to one of the many wifi cafes to be able to update this blog.
The photo is the Pitons at 0630, a magnificent geological formation on the Island of St Lucia. This was taken as we were leaving to head to Bequeia on a very damp tropical morning with our buddy boat Neptune II. It was misty with water on the lens but it was still a nice warm, 30c morning.
Life is very peaceful on board Annecam.
