Dodging Volcanos
27 July 2015 | St George’s Bay, Grenada
Cam "H"
We cleared through Customs and Immigration in Tyrell Bay on Carriacou Island and sailed to Grenada the next day. There was an orange alert on the undersea volcano called Kickem Jenny. The Authorities down here implemented a 5 kilometre exclusion zone around the volcano but we gave it an even wider berth, just to be sure. The water here is a very rich green colour and the local fishermen say it is because of the volcano.
We first dropped our anchor in a beautiful little bay called Halifax Harbour, this was the location of a rubbish dump some years ago but someone forgot to tell the flies that the dump was no longer there. We have renamed this bay Blow Fly Bay. Within five minutes we had a boat full of them, so we sailed further down the Island to Grand Mal Bay. We only spent the one night here and are now anchored in St George’s Bay.
Gary from our buddy boat Neptune II has a new outboard motor to pick up from here, we intend staying for at least the two nights here before we sail to Prickly Bay down on the south end of the Island.
The photo is Annie and I getting ready to head into the Grenada Yacht Club for dinner.
Life is still exciting on Annecam.
