Finally saying goodbye to my Dad
22 October 2015 | Clarkes Court Boatyard
Cam "H"
Today was the day that I finally got the chance to say goodbye to my Dad at his final resting place alongside his brothers, my two uncles, Ted and Max, the resting place of his own father and my Grandfather Cyril, his Great Grandfather and Great, Great Grandfather Thomas the first Hair to come to Australia, all resting at the Clear Lake cemetery. It was quite surreal for me to see the plot where his ashes are lying and to have the chance to share the moment with my beautiful wife Annie and my eldest daughter Amanda and my two grandsons Baxter and Phenix. I still believe that he was the greatest man that has influenced so many in such a good way.
We are visiting family and friends in our old home town, Horsham, Victoria, Australia. We both really feel that we are strangers here now, apart from a few people who we have managed to catch up with, Mina, Sharlene, Drew, John, Jock and Tracy, Plus my eldest daughter Amanda, her husband Donny and our two grandchildren Baxter and Phenix, one of my twin sons Brad and his partner Alana, One of my Uncle’s Max and his wife Gwendolyn. We did drop into our old work places Annie got to spend some time with Joanne, Graham and Sue and we both got to spend a little time with some of our old work mates in the Country Fire Authority Office here in town. The rest of the people we see are total strangers to us and there is definitely a very different feel to this town now. We are not sure if it is a better place than the one that we left behind to sail the world on Annecam.
Life can be very humbling on days like this.
