We are always on the look out for all things Australian wherever we travel and as our national day approaches we could not help but notice that one of the French restaurants we had dinner in recently had part of our national emblem on the menu, yes they had 'skippy' our very own bush kangaroo for all to consume. The spelling was a little different but it was none the less our very own marsupial, I might add that we had the fish and the lamb.
We sailed away from Deshaie on the Island of Guadeloupe yesterday for what was planned to be an easy 40 plus nautical mile passage, it all started of as planned with Annecam reaching right in her happy place as she glided along at well over 8 knots and sometimes hitting 9.5. The fish were smashing our lures as we had to stop and back up twice, the first time the tuna spat the hook but the second one we managed to land, a short time later we landed a nice Rainbow Runner and then another "Barry the Barcuda", we released Barry as we definitely had enough fresh fish on board for several good meals. At about the halfway mark the wind dropped out so we had to start up our cast iron topsail to motor sail up to Antigua.
We are now anchored right in front of the Pillars here in English Harbour, this is the second time that Annie has been here and the third time for me.
