It looks like Florida but doesn't feel like FL

07 March 2014 | Jacksonville
I usually only blog once a week but since we have been in the same marina for three days now I thought I would bring it up to date. Some really strange weather came through this week. As I mentioned in the previous blog, Tuesday's weather really starting to deteriorate. The day ended very cold, windy and misting rain. Forecasters were calling for occasional showers on Wednesday so we decided we would go ahead to just outside Jacksonville. We knew it would be a short day of running. Started out very grey and went through a rainstorm that slowed us down like fog would. Sid decided to run ahead to Fernandina so we truly separated. Still cold in Jacksonville when we arrived and now they were talking severe thunderstorms and possibly up to 4" of rain Thursday. We hunkered down and yesterday truly was a miserable day. Temps never saw 50* and rained all day. We talked to Sid later in the day and it was very challenging for them. They had to go thru some sounds and he was seeing at least 4-5' seas in the bays. He did hit a cell that tore his bimini off. We know how scary that can be but they were able to get in OK and settle down for the nite. We stayed put again today. No rain and still blowing a bit but I know tomorrow we will be out of here and enter the St. Johns River. It will be chilly in the a.m. (upper 30's if you can believe that) but we are promised 70* during the day. Not many pics lately so I hope the St. Johns gives me some photo ops. Have a great weekend everyone.
