Shake and Bake
23 July 2015 | Day 4 to Debut
Friday 24 July 2015
This morning, after beating sails up all night as wind eased and sea didn't, furled the genny and staysail (used to close slot between mast and windward foresail) and flew spinnaker. Wind has dropped to 6 knots apparent, but 3/4 ounce downwinder is working well. Should get better breeze once out from under overhead cloud. That's the theory anyway.
OK, here's where we start complaining about heat. At noon it's 32C (about 90F) with high humidity and little breeze. At least the sea finally lay down and roll is tolerable. Should arrive Debut Sunday morning at dawn depending on wind which is expected to stay virtually the same for duration. After 16 days on the boat, covering over 2000NM with nearly continuous sometimes impressive roll, figure we've done enough of that for awhile and ought to take a break. Expect, however, that our presence will cause island to wobble for a day or two before it finally settles down. Hope the locals don't mind.
